AGRICULTURE PHOTOS WANTED

BISMARCK – Photographs depicting farm and ranch life and the crop and livestock season are wanted for the third annual North Dakota Department of Agriculture Photo Contest.

"Spring planting is still underway, and there are new calves, lambs and foals out in the pastures; so it’s a great time to be out taking pictures,” said Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson. “We have had some great photographs in past contests and hope to have even more this year.”

Contest rules and entry forms are available on the department’s website at www.agdepartment.com (click on “Hot Topics”) or by contacting the department at (800) 242-7537 or ndda@nd.gov.

The deadline for submitting photos is Oct. 31, 2008.

One photo will be chosen in each of the following six categories: farming, ranching, crops, livestock, people and agricultural landscape. Winning photographs will be used in the department publications and website. Each of the winning photographers will receive a $50 cash prize and will be invited to a special ceremony during National Agriculture Week 2009. They will also be credited in all publications in which their winning photos appear.

Eligible photos must have been taken in North Dakota within the past three years by North Dakota residents. Employees of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture and their immediate families and professional photographers are not eligible to enter. Entrants can submit a total of four photographs in either digital file or print form.
