ND Department of Agriculture Press ReleasesFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARCH 13, 2009 ANHYDROUS AMMONIA SAFETY SEMINARS SLATED BISMARCK – Registrations are now being accepted for the 2009 Anhydrous Ammonia Safety Training and Fertilizer Issues Seminars, March 30-31, sponsored by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) and the North Dakota Agricultural Association (NDAA). The seminar dates, times and locations are: March 30 10 a.m. to noon Eagles Club, 345 12th Ave. NE, Valley City. Topics include an overview of anhydrous ammonia laws and regulations, safe operating practices for dealerships and farms, required risk management plans for facilities and a checklist of storage handling and distribution equipment and facilities. Presenters include Jim Gray, NDDA; Steve Wienbar, North Dakota Safety Council; Jim Peterson, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Jim Retterath, Fertilizer Equipment Inc., Valley City. Participation in one of the seminars fulfills a state safety training requirement for all persons handling, transferring, transporting or working with anhydrous ammonia at anhydrous ammonia storage facilities. Persons planning to attend a seminar are encouraged to pre-register. Pre-registration materials are available by calling the NDAA office at (701) 282-9432.
