AGRICULTURE PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS NAMED

BISMARCK – Six photographs out of more than 150 entries have been selected as the prizewinners in the 2009 North Dakota Department of Agriculture Photo Contest.

“The judges said they had to make some tough decisions, but I think they came up with six images that reflect North Dakota agriculture.”Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson said Wednesday.

Johnson presented each of the winners with a $50 prize and a certificate.

The winners are:

    *   Crops: JoAnn Ensrud, Pekin
    *   Farming: Anastacia Hermes, Kindred
    *   Landscape: Lorne Reimer, Cavalier
    *   Livestock: Cherie Roshau, Dickinson
    *   People: Donna Opoien, Pekin
    *   Ranching: Dawn Martin, Beulah

Donna Opoien is a repeat winner. She won the landscape category in 2007.

All the photographs appear in the newly published “North Dakota Agriculture 2009” and can also be viewed on NDDA’s website, www.agdepartment.com (click on “Hot Topics”).
