ND Department of Agriculture Press ReleasesFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARCH 26, 2009 PET OWNERS URGES TO PREPARE FOR EVACUATION BISMARCK – Pet owners who may be forced to leave their homes because of flooding should make preparations for the care of their animals. “If possible, you should not leave your pets behind,” says Dr. Beth Carlson, deputy state veterinarian. “While human safety is of the utmost concern, your pet’s safety could be at risk, especially if you are unable to return home soon.” Carlson said persons who are unable to find accommodations for their pets should contact the following for information on and locations of available shelters.
Carlson also said owners should also have a portable kit for the pet with the following items:
