FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 23, 2009

PRIDE OF DAKOTA HARVEST SHOWCASE COMING TO DICKINSON

BISMARCK – The first Pride of Dakota Harvest Showcase is coming to Dickinson in September.

"It’s a little too early in the year to be a Holiday Showcase, so we decided to call the new event in Dickinson a Harvest Showcase,” said Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. “Other than the name, however, this is the same event that annually draws thousands of shoppers to the Holiday Showcases in Minot, Grand Forks, Fargo and Bismarck.”

The Harvest Showcase is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20, in the Dickinson Recreation Center, 1865 Empire Road. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday. Admission is $1. Parking is free.

Goehring said that more than 50 Pride of Dakota companies have already signed up for the event, and more are expected.

"You can expect to find the same, high quality products from Pride of Dakota companies,” he said. “Delicious foods and condiments, gift items, wearing apparel, jewelry, decorative items, musical recordings and much more will be on display and for sale.”

The Holiday Showcases are scheduled for Nov. 7-8 in Grand Forks, Nov. 14-15 in Minot; Nov. 21-22 in Fargo and Dec. 5-6 in Bismarck.

Authorized by the Legislature and administered by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, the Pride of Dakota program fosters the development and growth of small businesses, especially businesses that are farm-based or rely on agricultural commodities. Pride of Dakota member companies can participate in cooperative promotion and marketing events; receive representation at local, state, regional, national, and international trade shows and educational opportunities. More than 400 companies are Pride of Dakota members.
