ND Department of Agriculture Press ReleasesFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 GOEHRING NAMES TOLNA MAN AS AGRICULTURAL INSPECTOR BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has appointed Bryant Huso as a pesticide, fertilizer and feed inspector in the North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA). “Bryant’s academic background and his experience working in agriculture and the environment will be very helpful in this position,” Goehring said. Goehring said Huso will conduct inspections of pesticide dealers, applicators and repackaging facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. He will also meet with dealers, applicators and producers, as part of the department’s outreach efforts to help pesticide users better understand both the regulatory process and how they can use pesticides more safely. “Bryant will take testing samples of fertilizer and feeds to ensure that products meet standards,” Goehring said. “He will also check to see that the licenses of commercial feed manufacturers and retailers and fertilizer distributors and the certification of pesticide applicators are up to date.” A native of McVille, Huso graduated from the University of Mary, Bismarck, where he majored in chemistry with a minor in biology. He has previously worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Geological Survey, the Eddy County Soil Conservation Service and Lawson Manufacturing. Huso and his wife, Jennifer, live on a farm near Tolna. -30- MEDIA: For more information or for a picture of Bryant Huso in jpeg format, please contact Ted Quanrud at (701) 328-2233 or tquanrud@nd.gov.
