ND Department of Agriculture Press ReleasesFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JANUARY 21, 2010 NDDA UPDATING FEEDLOT DIRECTORY BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) is updating its feedlot directory to provide livestock producers with information on feeding opportunities in the state. Participation in the directory is voluntary and free to North Dakota feedlot facilities. “North Dakota ranks 22nd in the nation for cattle on feed, finishing an estimated 70,000 head per year, but leads the nation in the production of 13 commodities.” said Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. “I believe there is opportunity to finish out more cattle in North Dakota based on the availability of affordable, quality feedstuffs.” Goehring said the feedlot directory provides producers who have not been involved in feeding cattle with an opportunity to get in touch with existing feedlots. To provide information for the directory, feedlot operators should contact Kadee Hande at (701) 328-2354 or khande@nd.gov. In addition to printed copies, the directory will also be available on the NDDA website at www.agdepartment.com. -30- MEDIA: For more information, please contact Ted Quanrud at (701) 328-2233 or tquanrud@nd.gov.
