NORTH DAKOTA AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER’S AWARD FOR PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE GUIDELINES

The North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner’s Award for Professional Excellence will be presented to agency employees who have produced superior products or services and who have projected a positive image for the agency.  Nominees for the award will exemplify some or all of the following:

  • Routinely demonstrate the ability to perform high-quality work supporting the agency’s mission statement and goals.
  • Consistently demonstrate concern about others and offer assistance to others when help is need.
  • Dependably carry out job-related tasks in a timely manner.
  • Consistently exhibit a positive attitude about work.
  • Generally foster a cooperative, respectful and mutually satisfying work relationship with co-workers and customers.
  • Have made a significant contribution that has had a positive effect on the customers of the agency, particularly during the quarter nominated.

One employee will be recognized quarterly for professional achievement and will receive a performance bonus of $500. (Authorized in NDCC 54-06-30 as follows:)

54-06-30. State employee performance bonus program - Criteria - Limitations.
State agencies may provide monetary performance bonuses to their employees under this section.

2. State employees are eligible to receive a bonus under this section only if:

a. The employee has held a position in state government for at least one year
before a bonus is paid;
b. The employee's overall annual performance evaluation satisfies the agency's
performance bonus program criteria for receiving a bonus; and
c. The employee is a full-time or part-time regular nonprobationary employee
holding a regularly funded nontemporary position.

3. An employee may not receive more than one performance bonus per fiscal year and may not receive more than one thousand dollars in bonuses per biennium.

The Commissioner, Assistant, and Deputy are not eligible to be nominated.  All other non-probationary FTEs who have been in state government for at least one year are eligible. To be considered for the award, an agency employee must first be nominated by a co-worker or an outside customer. Nominations should be submitted in writing on the form below.  An employee may not receive this award more than once in a fiscal year.


Deadlines for nominations are March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31.
