Healthcare Initiative

The Healthcare Initiative is intended to build a tighter relationship between pesticide regulators and healthcare providers in an effort to better understand and assess the impacts of pesticides on human health. Better recognition of pesticide poisoning and tracking of pesticide-related health incidents will help the Department to better identify and mitigate the risk posed by pesticide products.

Under the Healthcare Initiative, the Department provided close to 400 medical facilities in the state with a new manual from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on recognizing and treating pesticide poisoning. Additional copies of the publication, "Recognition and Management of Pesticide Poisonings", can be obtained online or by contacting the Department.

Further information on the Healthcare Initiative, including additional resources for medical providers, can be obtained here:

National Strategies for Health Care Providers: Pesticide Initiative.
