Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Schools

Integrated pest management (IPM) is a strategy for achieving long-term, environmentally-sound pest control through a variety of management practices, including the use of physical, cultural, biological, and chemical technics. The IPM in Schools program is intended to provide schools with information and tools to reduce pesticide risk and exposure to children, educators, and staff.

A school IPM program employs commonsense strategies to reduce sources of food, water and shelter for pests in your school buildings and grounds. It also involves the prudent and careful use of pesticides.

For further information on the IPM in Schools program, including how to get started in creating an IPM program, please visit EPA's IPM in Schools homepage: http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/ipm/#bkmrk3.
