"Annie B's Picture Framing and Designs"

PRIDE OF DAKOTA COMPANIES

Killdeer, ND - North Dakota is home to a variety of different wildlife creatures. One of these creatures is a bird called the ring-necked pheasant. The natural beauty of the ring-necked pheasant always attracts tourists going through the state, and hunters come from everywhere to hunt these birds. One company in Killdeer, North Dakota has found a way to preserve the beauty of the ring-necked pheasant with pheasant feather wreaths. Annie B's Picture Framing and Designs creates individually handcrafted pheasant feather wreaths that showcase the striking the ring-necked pheasant in a different light.

Annie B's Picture Framing and Designs is operated by a husband and wife team. Dianne and Tom Porter work as a team to make pheasant feather wreaths and custom made memory boxes and gun display cases of various hardwoods. Dianne, a picture framer since 1993, and Tom, an engineer at Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, combine their talents to make these creative pieces of art. "Annie B's originally started out as a picture framing business and we are attempting to expand on the designs portion by adding items that are not available elsewhere," explains Dianne. "We wanted to create a product that would preserve the natural beauty of the ring-necked pheasant for years of enjoyment. Tom is both an avid hunter and woodworker, and he combined his interests," Dianne says, referring to how this couple got involved with the business.

You may be wondering where the name "Annie B's" comes from considering the couple's names are Dianne and Tom. "When I was a child, my dad's nickname for me was 'Annie.' My dad was born and raised in Halliday, and when I moved to North Dakota in 1998 I wanted to honor him in memory with the name of my business," Dianne explains.

While more of a hobby now than a lucrative business, the couple has plans to expand their business enough to let other people enjoy their handiwork and still remain small enough to ensure individual creativity and service. Dedicated to the satisfaction of their customers, the motto for their business is, "If you like my work, tell your friends. If you don't, please tell me."

These unique and quality products can be found at showcases, galleries and displays across the state. Word-of-mouth advertising is also an important way that they get information out about their products.

Annie B's Picture Framing and Designs creates lasting tributes to the beautiful ring-necked pheasant, preserving North Dakota beauty in a creative and innovative way.
